First Continental Congress

First Continental Congress

First Continental Congress, Join or Die

The First Continental Congress is part 7 of revisiting the American Revolution history, my lead up to the Fourth of July celebration. The First Continental Congress brought together representatives from each of the colonies, except Georgia, to discuss a response to the British “Intolerable Acts.” The congress decided to boycott British goods and send a request to King George to remove the repressive laws. The congress also decided to meet again at a Second Continental Congress. Their appeal to eliminate the Intolerable Acts was unsuccessful.

To learn more about the First Continental Congress, see the Kidport First Continental Congress reference materials. You may also be interested in our First Continental Congress video collection.

In the next session, I’ll talk about the Battles of Lexington and Concord.
